Terms of Service

Effective: January 2025. Please read these in a friendly way—we’re here to keep the community safe and clear.

What WhippetWire is

WhippetWire is a community site for whippet owners: forums, dog diaries, events, and more. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you don’t agree, please don’t use the site.

Your account

You’re responsible for your account and for keeping your password safe. One account per person. If you think someone else has used your account, tell us. We’ll do what we can to help.

Acceptable use

Be respectful. No spam, no impersonation, and no illegal content. No harassment, threats, or abuse. Don’t post things you don’t have the right to share. We’ll have community guidelines too; these terms work alongside those. If you break the rules, we may remove content or suspend or end your account.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you post. You give us permission to host, store, and show it as part of running WhippetWire (for example, so your posts and diary appear on the site). We’re not trying to own your words or photos—we just need enough rights to run the service. Don’t post stuff that belongs to someone else unless you’re allowed to.

Not professional advice

Forums and other content come from the community. We’re not vets, trainers, or lawyers. For health, training, breeding, or legal decisions, please talk to a qualified professional. What you read here is peer-to-peer sharing, not a substitute for expert advice.

Our role

We can remove content or suspend or terminate accounts if they break these terms or our community guidelines. We’ll aim to be fair and, when it makes sense, we’ll explain. We’re not obliged to host any particular content or user.

“As is” and availability

We provide WhippetWire “as is.” We’ll do our best to keep it running and useful, but we can’t promise it’ll always be available or error‑free. Sometimes we’ll need to do maintenance or things will break; we’ll try to minimize that.

Limitation of liability

We’re a small community site. To the extent the law allows, we’re not liable for decisions you make based on what you read here, or for indirect or consequential damages. Our total liability is limited to the amounts we’ve received from you in the last 12 months (or $100 if you haven’t paid us). Some places don’t allow these limits—if that applies to you, they might not.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. We’ll post the new version here; if the change is significant, we’ll try to point it out (e.g. on the site or by email). If you keep using WhippetWire after a change, that means you accept the updated terms.
